For spherical tanks, steel consumption is lower and force distribution is more uniform, though cylindrical tanks with elliptical or hemispherical heads are also common. For high gas storage pressure, spherical tanks are generally preferred despite greater manufacturing difficulty. Wet-type and dry-type low-pressure tanks serve different purposes, with wet-type featuring a water tank and liftable tower sections, and dry-type using a piston within the cylinder.
